About Little Orange Fish
Fostering Understanding. Promoting Healing. Building Community.
At Little Orange Fish (LOF), we believe that mental health is a core aspect of health and well-being, and that everyone deserves access to the support, care, and understanding needed to thrive.
We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering a greater public understanding of mental health—its roles, its value, and the challenges facing those who seek care. Through education, advocacy, creative expression, and research, we strive to make mental health resources more visible, understandable, and accessible to all.
Our Mission
Fostering a greater public understanding of the roles, value, and current state of mental health care is our primary objective. By making mental health resources more visible and understandable, we’re striving to ensure these essential services are both approachable and accessible to all. It’s essential to not only grow and strengthen the mental health care community but also to ensure that individuals have unimpeded access to the essential support and treatment we all deserve.
Our Core Programs
We organize our efforts through four key initiatives:
Feelings are Real
Educating the public about mental health and emotional well-being through workshops, campaigns, and community events that normalize conversations around feelings, trauma, and care.
Here for You
Creating pathways to essential mental health services by improving awareness, access, and navigation for those seeking help—especially in underserved communities.
Expressions
Harnessing the power of the arts to support healing, self-awareness, and resilience. We partner with artists and storytellers to explore the emotional truths that unite us.
The Inner Defense Initiative
Advancing biological research into the underlying mechanisms of trauma, particularly PTSD, to bridge the gap between science and compassionate care.
Why We Exist
Mental Health is foundational to Health. And yet, too many people suffer in silence due to stigma, confusion, or lack of access to support. Little Orange Fish was founded to change that narrative—by opening up honest dialogue, expanding education, and connecting people to tools and communities that help them heal and grow.
‘A strong community is built of healthy individuals,
and good health starts with a healthy mind.’
